I chlorinated the inside of my car to kill a nasty odor. It didn't completely work. Let's try this.
I recently used a chlorine tablet to eliminate a nasty cigarette odor from the interior of my car. Although mostly successful, there is still a remnant odor persisting. Let's try removing the seats, deep cleaning the carpet and using a steam cleaner for the air vents. The average cost to detail a sedan is $225 and $250 for SUVs. You can easily save half by doing the work yourself.

most fly "drive" by wire throttle bodys have at least 2 TP sensors and the ECM "computer" monitors both plus two more TPs on the gas pedal..if any of those 4 TPs are out of range the ECM will put the car in limp mode "no power" or very limited power. This keeps the throttle body from getting you killed should it malfunction and you can't control the speed of the engine!

You checked that it was not stuck closed which is 50% of the function, but not that it aint stuck open. The hissing sound i only get when turning engine off (and slightly turning it on), both on my old and a brand new valvle on a ctr fn2 worked like this Both create the same vacuum, means valve aint stuck closed. But the old one cause a loud rattling sound (as if colbistion vavles are out of adjustment) while the new one only cause a very faint rattling sound from the valve, which comes from the spring and vacuum constantly opening and closing the valve (the loud rattling is the first sign of worn vavle or actually worn spring) If i clamp the hose, both valves go quiet so my old one wasnt totally done i guess, but the loud rattling points to the spring being too short or have lost its spring effect from constant work over the years. Oddly if sucking the vavles with my mouth, the old one sealed totally ahut while the new ine leaked. Possibly from oil helping with the seal unless i got a defective one from Honda.

Not to be pedantic, but T30 is not an Allen key. My Haynes manual also said to use an Allen, so there I was, trying to find the proper size Allen key, and chalked up the looseness to some of the metal rusting away. I rounded out the keyway, so I used a grinder to cut it out. Wasted tons of time, had to get a ride to the parts store, had to buy a new part that I hadn't planned on replacing, and ended up missing work the next day because the job wasn't done and my car was still up on blocks. I bought a new one, with an obvious Torx keyway, and checked the old undamaged bolt, that I also cut out instead of fighting it again, and the Torx was a perfect fit. Allen is a hexagonal bit. The typical wrench used that we associate with it is an 'L-wrench', which may cause some confusion due to the similar phonetics. The Torx, or star bit, also comes as an L- wrench.

The synthetic media seems to hold up quite well with or without the metal screen. The cheap paper filters, probably not so much, at least with longer change intervals or running your vehicles at high RPM's. The bottom line is it's worth it to get a higher quality oil filter.

I having an issue with Code P0022 which is the VVT Soleniod. First I cleaned the old one, cleaned it, followed by testing it with 12 DC source to be certain it was clicking, which it was. Reinstalled and a week later the same P0022 came back. Next, I purchased a new VVT Soleniod from Toyato for $172 and installed it. Five days later the P0022 comes back. Now I was told that I should have replaced the VVT filter and VVT gasket at the time I replaced the VVT. So that is my next project. Order the VVT Filter and Gasket from Toyato Dealership out of Ks. Will be here mid-week. If this doesn't fix it I don't know what to do next. I can pull the check plate for the timing chain when I replace the VVT Filter and Gasket next week. Again I am not getting a P0016 code. My truck is a 2005 Tacoma Prerunner 4.0, 1GR engine with 181,000 miles. I bought it in April 1007 and have only used Royal Purple 5w30 and Royal Filter filters since that time. Couple of years ago, the timing cover, front engine seal and waterpump were replaced as I had an oil leak at the upper right corner of the timing cover. The repair shop told me that the inside of the engine was really clean and the timing cover open the mouth of the egine. Any advice you could give me is greatly appreciated.

07 Acura TL Type-S owner. LOVED the car. Got a vibration issue with the motor mounts I couldn't live with, so sold it, but hated to do so. One problem with the Type-S is the front brakes. They're aluminum calipers with STEEL screw holes. The bolts will seize due to the different metal interaction, so find yourself a good machinist and he can repair them so you don't have to buy new calipers. Great summary video.

Clever idea the chlorine. The general rule is to clean before disinfection. On soft materials a bit of steam after surface cleaning will open the pores for additional cleaning and clearing. Once dry, disinfection can be accomplished. Keeping with the chlorine theme, you might try a product called Clean Smart for the final disinfection, followed up by a scented leather conditioner. Be sure to let us know how successful you were removing the cigar and smoke odors.
